Ono-kun おのくん, the sock monkey made in Higashi-Matsushima, Miyagi prefecture 宮城県東松島、陸前小野駅周辺 is doing its biggest visit to Tokyo. The shotengai 深川江戸資料道り商店街 acquired 100 Ono-kun for all its member shops, and offered 30 to the first people who correctly identified at least 20 of those Ono-kun. Sounds complicated? Not for the first 130 people who went up and down the shotengai and filled in the form; that’s correct so many people completed the stamp rally-like event that the shotengai decided to reorder prizes several times. A great success, that hopefully will be also covered by the Miyagi media. Here is today’s interview with the Kahoku newspaper 河北新報.
Ono-kun himself will visit the Kiyosumi-Shirakawa shotengai on Sunday 5/22 around 1-2pm.
